Why Promote Physical Activity?

This semester I took a Kinesiology class called KHS 139. In this class, I learned a lot about how to efficiently and effectively engage students in movement they will enjoy, learn from, and continue. It was very interesting to analyze the rates of physical activity in youth because physical activity in children has significantly decreased. As a parent, guardian, and/or teacher, I encourage you to glance at our new generations. It is not hard to see that physical activity is deteriorating within our youth, as health issues and technology arise.

Below, I have provided a mind map on why individuals should encourage children, students, and loved ones to participate in physical activity more frequently. This mind map is based on information I have learned throughout the duration of KHS 139, and is supported by some specifics in the 2018 ParticipACTION Report Card. This report card holds very important and valuable information all ages should review and consider.

As educators, it is our job to assist children in developing skill proficiency in order for them to become life-long movers; present and future generations depend on our knowledge and abilities to make a brighter, healthier tomorrow.
